Monteverde is a refreshing break from the heat of the beaches. Its green slopes

cloud forest, the Monteverde area is a must see. Nestled in the Tilaran Mountain Range
with views to the Gulf of Nicoya and of Arenal Volcano, Monteverde is a paradise of
lush landscapes.
The area known as Monteverde really consists of a few small towns, Santa Elena being
the most well known, and of several private reserves and forested areas. This region is
unique in that all of the protected lands are private endeavors, not government mandates.

Departures: 9:45 am and 2:45 pm (from Monday to Saturday). Sunday only at
2:45 pm.( from hotel in Monteverde area).
Return: About 3 hours later.

 Come visit El Trapiche,a Costa Rican family run business, where you can enjoy a 2 hour guide tour.
The tour begins with a walk through a farm where you can get a glimpse of plantations that grow sugar cane, coffee and other crops such as bananas, plantains, root vegetables, oranges and more.
During the course of the tour the entire coffee processing procedure is demonstrated; the drying grinding, peeling and roasting. This part of the tour Ends with an ox cart ride to the Trapiche where sugar cane is processed.
This process begins with grinding sugar cane which turns it into brown sugar.
It is in this same place where you will see the “saca de Guaro”,the liquor that is Made from sugar cane. Throughout the tour you will have the opportunity to taste The various products that are made from sugar cane as well as a delicious cup of coffee.
